Common Acronyms ACM SIGGRAPH Chapters will encounter

ACM Our parent organization, “ACM” stands for “Association for Computing Machinery“. ACM is the actual group that charters the ACM SIGGRAPH Chapters.

ACM SIGGRAPH The second part of our name, “SIGGRAPH” stands for “Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques“. ACM currently has 35 different SIGs.

 

CAF This refers to the “Computer Animation Festival” which is a part of the annual SIGGRAPH conferences.

 

CAG This is the “Conference Advisory Group“. This group consists of a CAG Chair, previous, current, and future conference chairs, several conference contractors and two representatives of the ACM SIGGRAPH Executive Committee.

 

DAC This is the “Digital Arts Committee“, a sub-committee of the ACM SIGGRAPH EC.

 

EC This refers to the ACM SIGGRAPH “Executive Committee“. The EC is composed of the following voting members: President, Vice President, Treasurer and six Directors-At-Large. There are also several ex-officio members.

 

ERC This is the “External Relations Committee“, a sub-committee of the ACM SIGGRAPH EC. It is the group that handles any agreements with non-ACM SIGGRAPH organzations.

 

ET This stands for “Electronic Theater“, a part of the SIGGRAPH Conference CAF program until 2007 and currently a part of the SIGGRAPH Asia CAF program.

 

PSCC This is the “Professional and Student Chapters Committee“, the group that helps provide oversight of the ACM SIGGRAPH Chapters for the ACM SIGGRAPH EC.

 

SACAG This is the “SIGGRAPH Asia Conference Advisory Group“. This group consists of a CAG Chair, previous, current, and future conference chairs, several conference contractors and two representatives of the ACM SIGGRAPH Executive Committee.

 

SV This stands for “Student Volunteer” and typically refers to the Student Volunteer Program that is a part of the annual SIGGRAPH conferences.

 

SVR This is the “SIGGRAPH Video Review“. The “SVR” is the annual collection of animations from the SIGGRAPH Conference (and soon, the SIGGRAPH Asia Conference). Prior to SIGGRAPH 2008, the SVR consisted of an Electronic Theater DVD and two Animation Theater DVDs.
